Put on your favorite reading glasses.  The next few instructions will only work if you read them and follow them exactly. Read all of them before doing anything else or you will probably just get yourself all frustrated and end up just wasting your time. If you are not familiar with installing new software, or if the following instructions are confusing to you, or you simply have no clue what this is all about then STOP and do not download this software. You may continue to use the web chat without problems.

Please read this entire page before downloading our software. After you have finished reading all of these simple instructions, come back to this spot and click here to begin the download.

When the download request box pops up, select Save -or- Save it to disk and save dischatsetup.exe to your desktop.

Once it is saved, double-click dischatsetup.exe on your desktop and follow the additional instructions. If you get any security warnings, just click Run.

When the installation is finished, find the Disabilities-R-Us Chat software icon on the Desktop -or- the Start Menu and double click it. When Disabilities-R-Us Chat starts up, do the following: Type in your "nick name" where it says Nick. Click where it says Click Here to Connect. It may take a moment to establish a connection. When the list of available chat rooms appear, click on #Disabled. This is the main chat room. The room usually has people in it, but if you don't see anyone, stick around a while.

Are WEIRD things happening in your chat windows? If you are using the Disabilities-R-Us Chat software for the very first time and are also seeing lots of strange text instead of emoticons (smiley faces), or are having other weird issues with how text is displayed, you probably need to update your system's RichEdit control. Please download and install richupd.exe which is a quick and painless update from Microsoft. It should update your system. Afterward, you will need to reboot your computer. Users of Windows ME and Windows XP do NOT need to update their system's RichEdit control.
