With husband? *** Emmert has left irc (Ping timeout for Emmert port-sac6.cwo.com]) That counts, I would think. :o) hi lol I need day help sometimes hi gb For those who do live independently, were there any issues that had to be solved (i.e. attendant care)? I doubt I could live alone i might as well, I do every thing any way Big problem for us why, that, judi dressing myself was an issue at one point Sometimes I can't even get outta bed, I have a potty chair but have a tendency to faint before I get up when I'm in bad shape so....... *** andie1 has joined #disabled *** LordNick has joined #Disabled hi andie...... hi ket hello everybody Plus there's the matter of food, drink, etc *** Jody has joined #disabled does anyone here know any latin? e plurbus unim why would you faint judi? don't feel bad i bet your keeping alot of people employed lol moooo Hello andie1, Jody and LordNick :o) current question is: For those who do live independently, were there any issues that had to be solved first? *** Mimi has joined #disabled Red, how did you solve the dressing thing sorry I'm late.... evening all. Mimi! hi :o) Hey Mims!!! Mimi, current question is: For those who do live independently, were there any issues that had to be solved first? really...does anybody know any latin? enough to translate stuff used to.... oh wow...totally forgot meeting night I discovered sticks, tools, when I was in the hospital hi dancer hi mimi tools to put on socks hi ket :o) 'In manus tuas, commendo spiritum meum.' I can't afford to live independently just yet..... but there would be issues to solve. I know that much... I need one of those, feet are far away If you haven't already answered this, how were these issues solved? might be 'In your hands, I commend my spirit.' I'm back, did I miss much? Jo left, but she said she had all the water shutoffs made reachable hi dancer Hello. *** LordNick has left #Disabled i think everyone could live independently with in reason with the right tools I haven't solved them, even considered a nursing home a few times but family won't hear of it how about a live-in attendant? Tools don't help with things like blood pressure drops, vertigo, etc I want to move away from home too. money my friend Darlene had a live in attendant for her dad How did she pay for it well that does have a way of getting in the way There is state aid to help pay for attendant's, judi. er... attendants free rent for her and her kid and a small wage That is also my problem, money. But, my husband has a good job, just not good enough to afford the rates they charge i think it would be neat to a disabled person to teach people not to throw money at these problems some insurance companies will pay for attendants. my mom worked for a home-care organization. It cost about $8-9/hr for a sitter they don't have group homes around here for physically-only challenged people. wow That was gonna be our next step last go round, home health, but you still have to pay for your own sitter, ins doesn't cover it i mean some people think it takes $100.00 for a 50 cent solution I don't follow you beetle *** ket has left irc (Read error to ket 202-85-238.ipt.aol.com]: Connection reset by peer) well if they would ask the person their helping that persons point of veiw all the home aides that my mother's company sent out were paid for by insurance... maybe you need an aide that is certified or something... *** ket has joined #disabled By the way, any females here know an easy way to get a bra on when you can't get reach behind you at all web ket... wb wb ket :o) wb :o) and just maybe that person has a solution to the big problem front-close bras *** Sky has joined #disabled thanks I know someone who has a live-in attendant/friend who works in exchange for room-and-board... and she has another attendant come in a few times a day to help out, her Medicaid pays for that one. Aides can't stay all day though close it in front and then twist it around you until the clasp's in back :o) current question? Carly, that is a possibility, we have an empty upstairs judi: In regard to bras... how about sports bras that you pull over your head? some college students majoring in medicine or nursing look for live-in situations.... I'm fixing to embarras myself but, well, I'm a wee bit large in that area so comfort does not always come in handy styles heh That's a good idea Jody Is anyone considering making a move into independent living in the not-too-distant future? judi: try front-close bras.... Daniel, are you trying to give your mom a heart attack? it takes lots of determination and persistence lol tell me about it I think each one of us has our own needs, I would think those needs who have to be attended to and the best weapon against failure would be 'having all your bases covered' but that's what makes us stronger than most folks I just need the money to move out.... they call it 'stubborn' down my way beetle *** andie1 has left irc (Ping timeout for andie1 reggae-08-199.nv.iinet.net.au]) :) judi i hear you Jody, that was Penny's not Sears jc penny.... good. got one near by. thankks my 'stubborness' when it comes to indenpendence drives my family nuts :) Money is the problem we all run into.
